TYLER SYKORA

Tyler serves Liberty Baptist Church as a Lay Pastor

Tyler was raised in a Christian home and made a profession of faith as a child. However, he did not actually know the Lord then. Instead, his faith was based more in his own works than in Christ’s finished work for him. He was converted at a church camp shortly before he went to college, and his life was changed dramatically. Though far from perfect, the Lord has continued to grow him in Christlikeness and has given Tyler a new heart with new desires, including the desire to see others believe the same life-changing message of salvation. Tyler knew he desired to pursue pastoral ministry after he preached his first sermon and hopes that God would use him to edify and strengthen His church through teaching and discipleship.

Tyler joined LBC in November 2016 and became a Lay Pastor in December 2019. He serves the church by preaching when needed, shepherding through pastoral care, and teaching Equipping Group classes. In his time at LBC, Tyler has loved seeing members grow in their understanding of God and His Word and in their pursuit of holiness. He prays regularly that the church would grow in unity, selfless love for one another, and evangelism.

Outside of his ministry in the church, Tyler enjoys spending time with his wife, Samantha, and their four children—Adeline, Jaxson, Lynlee, and Mylah. He serves as the Chief of Staff in the Office of the President and Assistant Professor of Biblical Studies at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He completed his MDiv and PhD at Midwestern Seminary in Biblical Studies. He enjoys reading, listening to audiobooks and podcasts, eating stroopwaffels or burgers, and watching football.
