The next round of the Exploring Membership Course will be held May 26 - June 23. This will be a class held on Sunday during the 9:00am Equipping Group hour in Liberty Students room 112. Participation in the class does not obligate anyone to join the church, but it is required before anyone can join. If you know someone who would like to participate, please direct them to register by May 25th. You are always welcome to join in and have the opportunity to meet the prospective members! New song: “There is one gospel”

This past Sunday, we introduced “There is One Gospel” by Cityalight. It’s a modern hymn that uses trinitarian language to proclaim the glory of the gospel and its centrality in our lives as individual followers of Jesus but also as the whole Church. It’s a joyful, rich song of grace. As a reminder, you can find this song along with all our songs we sing at LBC in our Spotify and Apple Music playlists, linked below.

lbc membership directory

We were excited to present to you our first copy of our church membership directory this past members’ meeting! We hope that the directory helps provide another way for us to serve and love one another. These will be updated three times a year, and printed at every other members’ meeting starting in June. Here is some information that may be helpful to you. First, you can find a printed directory in the church office as we will keep a handful of them printed. Second, our directory contains members’ personal information so please be diligent in keeping this information confidential. Lastly, we hope that this directory provides for us up-to-date information so please reach out to Muangkong or the church office with any suggestions, feedback, and/or corrections!

50+ Senior potluck

There will be a senior adults potluck on Monday, May 13, 2024 at noon in Fellowship Hall. You are welcome to bring your favorite foods and join us to fellowship!

Recommended Resources

We have five recommended resources during the month of May.

There are two books that you can find in the lobby. The first book is 12 Challenges Churches Face by Mark Dever. These twelve challenges, if left unchecked, can cripple a church and stifle its ministry to a needy world. But if individuals and churches immerse themselves in God's Word and heed Paul's instruction, God will heal even the sickest church and transform it into a powerful vehicle for proclaiming the gospel of Christ. The second is the Christian Standard Bible. The CSB stays as literal as possible to the Bible’s original meaning without sacrificing clarity, making it easier to engage with Scripture’s life-transforming message and to share it with others.

Additionally, there are three books that we have added to the bookroom. First, All That Jesus Commanded: The Christian Life according to the Gospels by John Piper. Piper walks through Jesus’s commands, in 50 short chapters, explaining their context and meaning to help readers understand Christ’s vision of the Christian life and what he still requires today. Second, The Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment by Jeremiah Burroughs. Burroughs was much concerned to promote (1) peace among believers of various 'persuasions' (2) peace and contentment in the hearts of individual believers during what he describes as 'sad and sinking times' and this book concentrates upon this second aim. Third, Precious Remedies Against Satan’s Devices by Thomas Brooks. Brooks says, “Satan hath a greater influence upon men, and higher advantages over them than they think he hath, and the knowledge of his high advantage is the highway to disappoint him, and to render the soul strong in resisting, and happy in conquering.”
