JARED WILSON

Jared serves Liberty Baptist Church as an associate Pastor

Jared was raised in the church and came to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior at around age six at First Baptist Church, Brownsville, TX. Since then, by God’s grace, Jared has grown in his faith and come to discover more and more the love of God in Christ and the sweetness of his gospel. Jared was called to ministry during his junior high school years and began in vocational ministry the summer he graduated high school. He has served in local church ministry in different roles since then, including two lead pastorates, before moving to Kansas City to serve at Midwestern Seminary.

Jared joined LBC in 2016 along with wife Becky and two daughters, Macy and Grace. He became a pastor in 2022. His primary area of service in the church is as a Staff Pastor for preaching and as the Director of the church’s Pastoral Training Center, discipling young men who are themselves preparing for pastoral ministry. He and Becky regularly host folks in their home for meals and fellowship. Jared’s major hope in pastoral ministry is to remind God’s people of the power and centrality of the gospel of Jesus. His favorite aspect of church life at LBC is enjoying the sheer number of genuine people who love God’s word and hearing it preached with Christ as the center.

Jared currently serves as Assistant Professor of Pastoral Ministry and Author in Residence at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He also has an active public ministry schedule, speaking in churches and at conferences and events around the country and occasionally the world. In his spare time he loves going to the movies with his wife, taking walks around the lake near their home, traveling, drinking Coke Zero for “dessert,” and reading (and writing) books.
