Beliefs & Membership

In short, Liberty Baptist Church is an elder-led, congregational baptist church in which the gospel is central and God’s inspired, inerrant Word is our authority. We hold to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 as our doctrinal statement, and we are part of the Pillar Network. We value gospel-centrality, expository preaching, meaningful church membership and discipline, pastoral and missionary training, church planting, evangelism to family, friends, and neighbors, and taking the gospel to the nations. Our Sunday worship gatherings are intentionally simple and driven by the Scriptures being preached, read, prayed, and sung.

Statement of Faith

Our Statement of Faith is a summary of what we believe as a church. It is anchored in God’s Word and is in continuity with historic Christianity.

Members’ Covenant

Our Church Covenant is a summary of promises we make to one another that define how we will live as a church.

Why Become a Member?

At Liberty Baptist Church, we believe the New Testament clearly supports church membership, and that committing oneself to the care of a local church is God’s design for spiritual growth. Among many things, church membership displays the gospel, provides a context for building up and correcting one another in love, serves as a witness to a watching world, and offers assurance of salvation to its members. In short, church membership is what makes a church. If you’d like to learn more about why membership matters, visit us on a Sunday, meet a pastor, or talk with any member—we’d love to share more with you.

How to Become a Member

Step 1 – Exploring Membership

If you are interested in pursuing membership with us, please consider participating in our Exploring Membership class. The class is comprised of five sessions, taught on Sunday mornings during the 9am Equipping Group hour, and is held three times throughout the year. Completing the course does not obligate you to join our church. Anyone is welcome to participate in order to get to know us better!

Sign up for the next round of Exploring Membership, June 1st-29th:

Step 2 – Membership Application

If, after completing all four sessions of Exploring Membership, you desire to pursue membership, you may complete a membership application, telling us about yourself and how God has saved you. We will make the application available to those who complete the Exploring Membership Course.

Step 3 – Membership Interview & Affirmation

If, after completing the application, you desire to pursue membership, one of our pastors will schedule a membership interview with you. During this interview, you will have a chance to share your testimony and discuss becoming a member of Liberty Baptist Church. Once the membership interview has been completed and the pastors agree with recommending you for membership, you will be presented to the congregation during a members’ meeting. A summary of your testimony will be shared with the church members, and the church will vote to affirm you as a new member.
