Equipping Groups exist to equip believers for life and ministry.
In Ephesians 4:12, Paul encourages pastors to equip Christians so that they can do the work of the ministry. In other words, he wants believers prepared to live in this world as faithful disciples of Christ. The purpose of Equipping Groups is to work toward this goal. These groups function like classes where one or two teachers are instructing others on a particular topic. Some of the groups are arranged by age category, but for the most part our aim is to arrange them by topic.
We’d really like for you consider attending one of these groups. All of our Equipping Groups begin at 9:30am before our Sunday morning worship gathering. Below is a schedule of where they meet. If you have any questions, please contact our church office or text us at 816.866.1963.
Christian Theology: An Introduction | Room 112
Everybody does theology, even the atheist. So the question is not whether you’re a theologian or not, but rather are you a good theologian or a bad one. This group helps to make good (i.e. biblical) theologians. It does this by introducing and explaining important Christian doctrines that help the believer grow in his or her knowledge of God and his Word. It is open to anyone and will meet for six weeks, starting April 23.
Exposition of Genesis 1-11 | Room 110
This is a very in-depth, expository study of books or sections of books of the Bible, with an element of apologetics. This group is currently going through Genesis 1-11. This class is offered to both adults and high school students.
Essential Theology for Women | Room 104
This discussion-based group is currently going through a series on “Essential Theology”. Together they are learning to love God more by knowing Him more fully. Women of all ages and stages of life are invited to attend.
Faithful Women | Room 102
This group utilizes the Gospel Project curriculum from LifeWay, which goes through the chronological storyline of Scripture in three years (two years in the OT, one year in the NT). Currently, they are going through “A Kingdom Established”, with studies in 1 and 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, Job, Psalms, Proverbs, and Ecclesiastes.
Explore the Bible
These classes utilize the Explore the Bible curriculum from LifeWay, which is a book-by-book Bible study that takes participants deep into the context of God’s Word and challenges them to live it out in their own context.
